Playing with Death

A young boy called Albrekt from Immenhausen mysteriously
turned up in Sweden anno 1465. His grafitti soon covered
the walls in most small churches all around Stockholm.
He immediately got the monicker Albertus Pictor and
all his messy paintings were rapidly chalked over.

About 500 years later when all old churches were restored
his plentiful work was discovered again. One of his cartoons
in Täby Kyrka inspired Ingmar Bergman to the most famous
game of chess known in film history.

New research suggests Black Death is lying dormant

Liverpool, UK - 19 May 2004: The Black Death is lying dormant
and could re-emerge at any time, according to scientists at
the University of Liverpool.

The Black Death appeared in Sicily in 1347, sweeping through
Europe and killing nearly half its inhabitants in three years.
Over the next three centuries the disease was continually
present every year, culminating in the Great Plague of London
in 1665, which claimed 6,000 lives per week at its peak.
