Picture of the day

I always carry a Cannon G9 in my pocket.
It is a nice little camera, but the electronic delay
in this cannon makes it impossible for me to take
snapshots the way i used to do. The timelapse often
destorys the whole composition, but here it had a
suprisingly funny and beautiful effect. The girl at
Vaksala Torg in Uppsala seems to perform an old
Marleene Moonroe act turning her face and
Zig-Zagickhning her bicykle.

Another Poem, now by a chessplayer

Anastazia Karlovich, Woman Grand Master, currently at 2251 elo.

According to chessgames.com she wrote the following while
commenting one of their broadcasts.

Premium Chessgames Member BishopBerkeley:
I have heard that in Middle Earth, the King of all herbs is Elvish Parsley
(Petroselinum elvishum crispum), but I cannot verify this.

(Then again, I've heard that in Tijuana, Herb Alpert is the King of all herbs.)

Anastasia: since u r a man of the cloth i won't sing she's vibrator dependent 2 u
but its probly ok 4 u to listen 2 this other song i wrote

elvis is everywhere
elvis is everything
elvis is everybody
elvis is still the king

man o man
what i want u 2 c
is that the big e's
inside of u & me

elvis is everywhere man
he's in everything.
he's in everybody...

elvis is in yr jeans
he's in your cheesbergers
elvis is in nutty buddies
elvis is in your mom

he's in everybody.
he's in the young, the old,
the fat, the skinny,
the white, the black
the brown and the blue
people got elvis in 'em 2

I like that girl!
She is currently my No:1 among chessplayers.

I like this Guy too who has had a bad performance
all since the Olympics in Dresten, but is happy and
safe with his jumbo price in the recent Mtel tournament.

More About Chess

I will try to write something every day like Goethe.
But since nobody visits my blog althought it was
adverticed twice by me on Susan Polgars blog,
i decided that there are other things to do.

- Leaving you with this short message
from Wolfgang himself.

Man sagt immer, die Lebenszeit ist kurz;
allein der Mensch kann viel leisten,
wenn er sie recht zu benützen weiß.

Ich habe keinen Tabak geraucht,
nicht Schach gespielt, kurz,
nichts
betrieben, was die Zeit rauben könnte.

Another naughty boy named Dragos

After writing the first post (read that first) in my new blog i went to sleep.
And Dragos came into my dreams and told me that he had done a much
better job in Sucevita than Pictor ever did in Suedia at the time in history.

I know that you have painted all the churches and monasteries in Moldavia i said.
- Now let me sleep. - NO, NO, wake up and write something about MEE!

And you must admit that Dragos writings for the illiterate are
better than Pictors. In fact so good that the men of GOD never let
him into a church until he was so old that he had forgot how to paint.

You can take a look in the UNESCO.org World Heritage pages
if you like to know witch churches he completely ruined and
destroyed by rewriting their old stories. And it is nothing less
than a miracle that so much of his work is still left. I can
assure you that there is more wind, rain and snow in the
mountains of north Romania and the Black Sea than around
Stockholm by the Baltic Sea.

Pictors indoor pictures where saved by being chalked over and
Dragos outdoor tales must have been saved by constant restoring.

There is a nice big book published by the New York Graphic Society
@ 1962 by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
I got hold of it many years ago for a small sum of money in a communistic bookstore.

There is something funny with the scaling of pics here
on blogger.com So you better click at those you like to see.

Playing with Death

A young boy called Albrekt from Immenhausen mysteriously
turned up in Sweden anno 1465. His grafitti soon covered
the walls in most small churches all around Stockholm.
He immediately got the monicker Albertus Pictor and
all his messy paintings were rapidly chalked over.

About 500 years later when all old churches were restored
his plentiful work was discovered again. One of his cartoons
in Täby Kyrka inspired Ingmar Bergman to the most famous
game of chess known in film history.

If you do not know who got the black pieces in the lottery,
just click this link: Youtube clip

If you like to know how to escape the Black Death see the movie!
But if you prefer scary tales instead of horror movies,
just read more of this one.

New research suggests Black Death is lying dormant

Liverpool, UK - 19 May 2004: The Black Death is lying dormant
and could re-emerge at any time, according to scientists at
the University of Liverpool.

The Black Death appeared in Sicily in 1347, sweeping through
Europe and killing nearly half its inhabitants in three years.
Over the next three centuries the disease was continually
present every year, culminating in the Great Plague of London
in 1665, which claimed 6,000 lives per week at its peak.
